Pre-International Yoga x Sailing Checklist

So you’re in! You’re officially going on an international yoga x sailing retreat to the Greek Islands! Now what?

Greece’s breathtaking coastlines, pristine architecture and historic influence have attracted travelers from around the world for centuries. The country is a Mediterranean paradise that boasts magic for all who visit… especially yogis

“One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore.” -Andre Gide

So you’re in! You’re officially going on an international yoga x sailing retreat to the Greek Islands! Your flight is booked. You’ve announced your big plans to friends and family. You’re STOKED. The anticipation is strong. Now what? In effort to be prepared and mitigate stress, here’s a few things you should consider doing in advance. Fortunately, you’re well on your way!

  • Communicate your time off well in advance. Let your boss/clients know ASAP!
  • Ensure your passport is up to date. Travelers’ passports must be valid for at least another 6 months beyond their trip. Make sure to have one blank page per stamp available in your passport.
  • Do I need a visa? If you’re a US citizen, sure don’t! ✔️ Greece is a party to the Schengen Agreement; therefore, U.S. citizens may enter Greece without a visa for stays of up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes.
  • Do I need any vaccinations? ✔️ Though no vaccinations are required to enter into the country, some are recommended. Feel free to research and decide what is most suitable for your health.
  • Book flight there & home (keep tabs on your flight locator number in case there’s any complications)
  • Purchase travel health insurance (optional, but highly recommended)
  • Book your hotel/hostel for days leading up to the trip + days after
  • Inform your banks that you’ll be traveling + ensure you have a credit card that allows for international transactions
  • Purchase a European outlet converter (they’re very inexpensive on Amazon)
  • Know and understand the currency: EURO!
  • Begin exploring Greek history! You’ll learn infinite amounts while standing on Greek soil, but it could be beneficial to have a general foundation of Ancient Greece, Mythology, The Olympic Games, etc.
